Dominic Owen is a producer, engineer, writer and DJ.

He also runs Smokersblend Records & Audioblend Mastering.

Dominic has appeared on over 25 million records and has produced & mixed songs for Notorious B.I.G,  Lil Kim, Rakim, Seal, Khadeja, Anthony Hamilton, Colin Cooper, Damage, Andy Abraham, Charlie Sloth, Julian Marley and many more.

An early convert to Hip Hop he released his first record in 1988 under the alias Dj Quick & Fizal EFF, and started Sing-A-Song Records an early UK Hip Hop Record Label in 1989.

After several release’s and touring Europe Dominic moved to America and spent the 1990’s in New York where he would go onto to work with some of the biggest name’s in the industry. Initially working with Hitman Howie Tee at his home studio in Flatbush, Brooklyn where he produced three songs on Little Shawn’s debut album ‘The Man In The Mirror’, alongside production for Special Ed, Chubb Rock, Lady Kazan and E.S.P.

In 1993 his musical home became High Class Productions in Brownsville, Brooklyn where he became head engineer and producer. At this infamous studio many of the 90’s Hip Hop legend’s like Rakim, Busta Rhymes, M.O.P. Raekwon and AZ would pass through, as well as future R&B giants Anthony Hamilton and Angie Stone.

It was at this time Dominic produced Things Done Changed on Notorious B.I.G’s ground breaking classic Ready To Die considered a modern day classic with over 10 million worldwide sales to date. Following this success with the club classic from Lil Kim- Drugs taken from the debut album Hardcore (4x Platinum)

During this period he also produced and mixed songs for Rakim, EPMD, Anthony Hamilton, Damage, Spragga Benz, The Edge and Nonchalant, as well as many other local and international artists that would pass through the Brooklyn studio.

In 1998 Dominic produced the Bugs Bunny theme song from the movie Space Jam at the legendary Hit Factory Studios with Billy West and Jay-Z. The album has now sold over 10 million copies worldwide, making it the third highest selling urban soundtrack in history.

On his return to England and setting up Lounge Life Studio’s in London he produced and recorded albums with Black Grape offshoot Manmade, vocalist Jeffrey Darnell for Talkin Loud Records, Tom Hingley (Inspiral Carpets) and Julian Marley.

Dominic has also produced several television commercials, including an award winning British Telecom advert, and scoring several documentaries, his music and sync’s appear regularly on CNN, Sky Sports, The History Channel and National Geographic Channel.

As a engineer he’s mixed and mastered a wide range of music notably becoming Executive Producer for the Colin Cooper Project overseeing the production, mixing and mastering of the Climax Blues Band archive’s and re-issues for Repertoire Records, The first album From The Vaults. was released in 2014.

Dominic’s current projects include Supreme Music Publishing, The Ambient compilation albums by Deep Chill Project, Ambient Windows,  Paris dance label’s; Suga Moods and Big Kola, Dj Andy Smith and the Reach Up crew, Pegdoll records; mastering the no 1 album for Equador - Bones of Man and Pegdoll tracks that have appeared on Power, Greenleaf, Love Island, MTV Catfish and NBC’s Elementary

His musical pedigree has allowed him to develop multiple long term relationships with different artists and producers worldwide providing advice regarding engineering, mixing, mastering, composition and recording.
